Statistics: Russia’s inflation again at zero Aug 15–Mon
MOSCOW, Aug 23 (PRIME) – The Russian consumer price inflation index was unchanged from August 15 through Monday following three consecutive weeks of deflation, and inflation reached 2.2% since January 1, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a report on Wednesday.
In the reported week, prices for eggs, white sugar and buckwheat fell 0.7-0.8%. Pasteurized milk, millet and pasta deflated 0.2-0.4%. Prices for mutton, canned meat, cooked sausage, butter, margarine, sour cream, curd, cheese, wheat bread, chocolates, caramel, tea and rise increased 0.1-0.2%.
Prices for fruit and vegetables declined 3.6% on average. Cabbage deflated 10.2%, potatoes, onions, carrots and tomatoes 6.7-9.4%, whereas prices for fresh cucumbers grew 1.7%.
Gasoline prices rose 0.1% and diesel fuel prices remained flat.
The Economic Development Ministry’s inflation forecast is 3.8%, the central bank target is 4% for 2017.
